Meet Poppy
Inspired by Poppy, the daughter of a member of Team Happy Everything! who was born with Down Syndrome.
Poppy {like the flower} is both bright and happy. Her {sometimes fiery} personality has blossomed over time. A joyful soul who no matter what life throws at her…
continues to bloom.
Our For Poppy Campaign drives awareness and donations to support individuals and families with Down Syndrome. With every attachment sold, The Coton Colors Company is proud to donate $9 for every Big Attachment and $6 for every Mini Attachment purchased to help kids like Poppy feel happy and empowered and to support individuals and families with Down Syndrome.
Poppy's Story
In April 2021, Poppy made her big debut into this world and shortly after, she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Her diagnosis caught everyone by surprise, and the Miller family immediately began their journey towards navigating a new life full of unknowns. Over the past two years of her life, Poppy has worked towards meeting ambitious developmental milestones through targeted therapies, and she has faced and overcome a handful of health setbacks... all with a smile on her face (well, except for her occasional "signature scowl" to let you know when she isn't happy!). What Poppy's parents soon realized is, while a Down Syndrome diagnoses can mean a variety of additional challenges and risks, it can also mean so much more than that.
As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. As Missy started sharing her personal experiences with raising a daughter with Down Syndrome online via her Instagram page (@missymiller_), her village grew exponentially as she discovered a newfound community.
"I’m so grateful Poppy introduced me to this whole community I was missing, and I knew I wanted to join this community that was already sharing the beauty of Down Syndrome. I feel honored to have the opportunity to add to this beauty by telling our story."
- Missy, Poppy's mom and proud member of Team Happy Everything!
Today, a simple scroll across her account will bring an instant smile to your face as you witness the pure joy of watching Poppy, and her loving older brother, Avett, and parents together in shared snippets of their everyday lives.
"While Poppy’s birth diagnosis of Down Syndrome certainly caught us by surprise, that one extra chromosome changed me for the better. My goal is to showcase the beauty of Down Syndrome and what our lives actually look like, which is joyful without a measure of doubt. My purpose in so openly sharing our lives is that others who may be going through a similar diagnosis will find hope in our story." - Missy
